This Privacy Policy explains what information Toolbox Talk Show (toolboxtalkshow.com) collects from visitors, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Toolbox Talk Show is a free safety podcast and resource library produced by SmarterRisk. We publish 5-minute toolbox talks for safety professionals, supervisors, and crews running pre-shift safety meetings. Contact: [email protected].
Information we collect
We try to keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site and improve it.
- Information you give us. If you email us, send a contact form, or sign up for our mailing list, we receive your name, email address, and any message you send. We use that information only to respond to you or to send you the toolbox talk content you signed up for.
- Automatic information. When you visit the site, our analytics provider records standard web traffic data — pages viewed, approximate location (city/region), device and browser type, referring site, and time on page. This data is aggregated and not used to personally identify you.
- Podcast playback. Our episodes are hosted by Buzzsprout. When you press play, Buzzsprout receives standard playback data (IP address, user agent, episode played) under Buzzsprout’s privacy policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and browser-storage entries:
- Google Analytics 4 for aggregate site traffic measurement (
_ga,_ga_*). - Buzzsprout player cookies for podcast playback functionality.
- Local browser storage to remember preferences you set on the site (for example, whether you’ve subscribed to our mailing list, so we don’t ask twice on the same device).
You can disable cookies in your browser. Most of the site continues to work without them; analytics simply won’t record your visit.
Email list
If you sign up for our mailing list, we’ll send you new toolbox talks and occasional updates from SmarterRisk. We will never sell your email address. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. If you’d rather we delete your data outright, email us at [email protected] and we will remove you from our records.
Third-party services
We rely on the following services to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Buzzsprout — podcast hosting and playback.
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic analytics.
- DigitalOcean — website hosting.
- AddThis — social-share buttons (legacy; will be removed in an upcoming theme update).
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for adult workplace-safety practitioners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Contact [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are in the EU/UK, the legal basis for our processing is your consent (mailing list) and our legitimate interest in running the website (analytics).
If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any sale of your information. We do not sell personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the homepage or by email to subscribers.
